Car Key Programming for Locksmiths: A Better Job Intake Process
A job-intake framework for authorized automotive locksmiths: documentation, diagnostics, compatibility questions and safe escalation before key work.

Quick answer
Para una revisión inicial, comparte año, marca, modelo, problema general, síntoma general, ubicación del taller y equipo disponible.
The intake questions that matter
| Question | Reason to ask |
|---|---|
| Who is authorizing the work? | Security work must be legitimate and documented. |
| What changed before the problem? | Battery, collision, module, or wiring events can change the diagnosis. |
| What is the exact symptom? | A no-start, key-not-detected, and no-communication concern are not the same case. |
| What keys or remotes are present? | Existing items can be documented and checked for application. |
| Is there a current scan? | Codes and module communication help establish a baseline. |
Keep the case record private
Use a private business process for ownership documents and vehicle-security information. A public social post or a shared group chat is not a suitable place for identifiers, credentials, or photos of documents. Clear records also make it easier to explain why a job needs more diagnosis instead of another programming attempt.
Select tools after the case is understood
The tool decision follows the case, not the other way around. Verify coverage, licensing, updates, and security-access requirements for the actual vehicle. The authorized workflow overview explains the job stages, while the tool evaluation guide explains how to assess equipment without assuming universal coverage.
